NSW south coast surfer Owen Wright pulled off a spectacular air reverse in the final to win the Boost Mobile Surf Sho on the Gold Coast. Wright, 18, scored a near-perfect 9.93 ride to beat his four opponents in the 25-minute decider and claim the $25,000 cheque in the biggest pay day of his fledgling career. "I was sitting with some mates and they're like `jeez 25 grand, that's a lot of money Owen'," he said. "I was like `don't talk about it'. I was pretty tired but I just got amped and did it." None of the five world tour surfers in the aerial event - including Australia's world champion Mick Fanning - advanced to the final.
